I designed and constructed a selfie station with branding for WE Fest. The aim was to capture the essence of the venue, Soo Pass Ranch. I used barn wood and found vintage swinging doors to create the structure. The selfie station was built to endure for several years. The poster frames were incorporated to enable the festival to effortlessly update the graphics or sponsor logos every year.
The branding on the surface documents the latitude and longitude where the barn wood was reclaimed from on a farmstead in southern Iowa from the 1800’s. Not only is it fun to see where the actual wood comes from but it is also a tribute to the history.
The stem is steel and the base is a cement casting with a blue stain added to the cement. Some of the bases are inset with additional barn wood as an accent. The table is guaranteed not to tip over.

I wanted to share the building process of this nearly 9’ table all the way back to the harvesting of the wood from a barn in Southern Iowa that was going to be torn down.
Harvest the wood
I spent 10 years at Dairy Queen as Senior Design Manager. Five of those years on the Orange Julius band and five years on the iconic Blizzard brand. Much of my focus was designing in store POP/posters and photo direction. Those were some yummy photo shoots!
I designed and built the branding and signage for a new bar at Soo Pass Ranch called the Prancing Pony. The client had provided me with some meaningful icons, such as the horse and horseshoes, which I incorporated into the design. The client was particularly impressed by the way I used a painting technique to give the signage an aged look.
